Endodontics

The Department of Endodontics at Unicorpus Multi-Speciality Dental Clinic is dedicated to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases related to the dental pulp and periapical tissues. Our goal is to preserve the natural tooth structure using advanced techniques in a comfortable and sterile environment.

Led by experienced endodontists, we focus on patient-centred care with a strong emphasis on pain management, precision, and long-term success.

Conditions We Treat

  • Pulpitis (Reversible & Irreversible):
Inflammation of the dental pulp, often presenting with pain, is managed through the removal of damaged tissue and sealing of the canal.
  • Necrotic Pulp & Periapical Abscess:
Infection of the tooth root and surrounding bone, typically treated with root canal therapy and medication
  • Dental Trauma:
Includes fractures or displacements that compromise pulp vitality, addressed via conservative management or root canal treatment.
  • Residual Apical Periodontitis:
Persistent inflammation after endodontic treatment, managed through retreatment or surgical intervention..
  • Internal/External Root Resorption:
Degenerative changes within or around the root; treated via targeted endodontic procedures or surgery.
  • Dental Pulp Inflammation (Pulpitis)
Caused by deep decay, trauma, or cracks, leading to tooth pain or sensitivity.
  • Periapical Abscesses
Infection spreads beyond the root tip, often requiring urgent intervention.
  • Cracked Tooth Syndrome
Fractures within the tooth structure may result in intermittent pain.
  • Traumatic Dental Injuries
Including tooth dislodgement, due to injury (Accidents, Sports, blunt injury)

Technology & Facilities

  • Digital Radiography & 3D CBCT:
Enables precise visualisation of root canals and periapical structures for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Operating Microscopes:
Provide enhanced magnification and illumination for detecting hidden canals and performing intricate procedures.
  • Electronic Apex Locators:
Measure root canal length with accuracy, reducing radiation exposure from repeat X-rays.
  • Nickel-Titanium Rotary Instruments:
Ensure efficient and safe canal shaping, preserving natural tooth structure.
  • Ultrasonic Activators:
Improve disinfection by enhancing irrigant penetration into canal irregularities.
  • Sterilisation Facilities:
Include autoclaves and single-use barriers to ensure patient safety and infection control.

FAQ's

1. Is root canal treatment painful?
No. All procedures are performed under effective local anaesthesia, and postoperative discomfort is mild and manageable.
2. How long does treatment take?
Most root canal treatments are completed in 1–2 visits; surgical procedures may require additional appointments.
3. Can a previously treated tooth be retreated?
Yes. Many failed or persistent infections can be successfully treated with nonsurgical retreatment or surgery.
4. What happens after endodontic treatment?

The tooth is restored with a crown to ensure strength and function and to prevent future infection.
